Based on the classic novel, by Louisa May Alcott, the story centres on the lives of the March sisters, four girls with different personalities, interests and ambitions. They live in small town America (Massachusetts) at the time of the American Civil War. Their individual stories are told in flash-back, so that we see how the young women have developed, travelled away from home and grown-apart over time and are then brought back together by circumstances.
